We recently acquired a lot of Garmin/Volvo Glass Helm 7616 displays, new in box. Volvo Glass Helm displays are Garmin displays that are factory-programmed with different firmware. It is impossible to convert a Volvo display to a Garmin or vice versa with any sort of software or firmware update, forced at startup, or through a normal software update procedure.

We did update the s/w on all of these Volvo Penta Glass Helm displays and then did a factory reset on each display.

We warranty the unit for 90 days, extended warranty may be available for purchase through eBay or may be included with some credit cards. Because these are discontinued and no longer supported by Garmin, the manufacturer’s warranty and support will not be available.

The Garmin 7616 and the Volvo Glass Helm are very similar but the Volvo unit has some different icons and some different features than the 7616, we are providing side-by-side photos for comparison.

Both of these displays are able to communicate with each but you get this error message " Mixing Garmin and Volvo Displays on the Garmin marine network is not supported because it may result in unexpected operation.

When we tried interfacing the two together depth was able to be seen on both the Garmin and the Volvo.
