This was used with the KVH M3 as well as some of the A-Series Dishes (for buses and automobiles This cannot be registered with DirecTV to use as a receiver - This can only be used to control your dish; power on, power off, lock-on, etc. You will need splitters and other components in addition to a DirecTv box to make this work.
