This is a tested backlight interface board for GPSmap 8012, 8212, 8015, and 8215 only. We have not tested these on 8" units as we have none to test them on. We have found that sometimes, units exhibiting a “no backlight” issue are fixed by replacing this board. Additionally, units that have no key beep despite having a working power/buzzer are often fixed by replacing this board. Also, in rare cases, a failure on this board can cause loss of touchscreen, although other boards are usually a more common cause. We provide this information to be helpful, but it is not intended to be an assurance or guarantee. Electronics repair can be complicated and without known-good parts, pinpointing failures can prove to be futile. We can assure you that the part being sold has been tested and is working, we cannot make any assurances that it will fix your issue.

Max Marine Electronics offers these fully tested boards in an effort to provide the boating community with discontinued parts and to keep these items from ending up in the scrap pile. While these parts do carry a 90 day warranty, they are non-returnable – we cannot afford to be a free provider of tested parts for people to “try.” If a warranty claim is made, shipping back to us will be the responsibility of the buyer, and if a part comes back to us and tests good, we will assess a $150 diagnostic fee and require the buyer to pay return shipping. This covers our costs in setting up a test bed and testing the part, which takes well over an hour.
