This is a tested power button for GPSmap 8008, 8208, 8012, 8212, 8015, & 8215 only. Will not work on other models. This not only houses the power button, but also the ambient light sensor, which is responsible for auto-dimming, and the buzzer/alarm. We have seen units that were otherwise functional but the power button got "stuck" due to corrosion or other factors. A power button stuck "on" can cause an erroneous "recovery loader ready" condition, while a power button stuck "off" will fail to turn a unit on. Please note that the majority of no power and recovery loader ready issues are due to main board issues and not the power button. Electronics repair can be complicated and without known good parts, pinpointing failures can prove to be futile. We can assure you that the part being sold has been tested and is working, we cannot make any assurances that it will fix your issue.

Please note - the blue/black wire harness supplied with the button may or may not be long enough for your application. You can reuse your old one, the length varies from screen size to screen size.

Max Marine Electronics offers these fully tested boards in an effort to provide the boating community with discontinued parts and to keep these items from ending up in the scrap pile. While these parts do carry a 90 day warranty, they are non-returnable – we cannot afford to be a free provider of tested parts for people to “try.” If a warranty claim is made, shipping back to us will be the responsibility of the buyer, and if a part comes back to us and tests good, we will assess a $150 diagnostic fee and require the buyer to pay return shipping. This covers our costs in setting up a test bed and testing the part, which takes well over an hour.
