This TM-258 comes exactly as shown with 4' of cable attached. This would be ideal for someone with a TM258 or TM260 existing that has failed that wants an inexpensive replacement. While the TM-258 is not quite as sensitive on the low frequency side as the TM260, it is a lot better than nothing and with TM260's pushing $1500 new, the tradeoff might well be worth it.
You will need to be sure to splice this in such a way that water doesn't enter the splice. We feel that on most boats, the 4' attached cable will give you enough room to route the cable into the transom so the splice can be done in the transom.
The transducer was tested with a TDT1000 transducer tester and as you can see, both frequencies test "in range" - you can see this test result in the photos.
The temperature sensor is slightly out of range (about 6 degrees low) - this can be adjusted out using a temperature offset on your display). This was tested with a multimeter, also shown.
