Our Story

Our History

Max Marine Electronics is a South Florida based business that specializes in putting used, refurbished, and new-old-stock parts in the hands of boaters who need them. Max Stein, owner and founder, turned a lifelong passion boating and a knack for understanding marine electronics and boat systems into a successful business.

Max Marine Electronics was initially established as an eBay business November 2011, operating out of a spare bedroom. Max Marine has since branched out to incorporate two e-commerce sites, over 25 employees, and a 15,000 sq ft facility that serves as home base for operations. Max Marine Electronics has quickly become the worldwide go-to company for boat owners, installers, and captains in search of hard-to-find, obsolete parts and high-quality used marine electronics.

The Max Marine Difference

The Facility

Our facility is the heart of our operation – we built our warehouse from the ground up. From design to completion, we focused on creating a space built specifically for the needs of Max Marine Electronics.

Our facility is fully air conditioned – this ensures our equipment stays in tip top shape and our employees can perform their jobs in comfort. Much like a bowrider will never make a good offshore fishing machine, it is difficult to take a cookie cutter warehouse and turn it into a cutting-edge facility for a unique business.

The Operation

The used electronics we sell are acquired through partnerships with installers, boatyards, marinas, and boat owners. The new electronics we sell are acquired through liquidations of manufacturers, distributors, boatbuilders, and other marine businesses. When any equipment arrives at our facility, each individual item goes through a comprehensive evaluation process.

Used electronics are fully bench tested on a live test setup that emulates a normal installation on a vessel. This is done to be sure that the unit not only powers on, but that all input/output ports function properly. During this testing process, software updates are performed and any issues we find are addressed and resolved by our NMEA-certified technicians. Once testing is complete, the items go through a thorough detailing process. The photos of our used units are of the actual unit you are buying in operation. After all these steps, the unit is finally ready to be listed for sale. If we are unable to test an item, we make this clear in our listing as to not mislead our buyers, please be aware of this and read the descriptions we provide to avoid any confusion. All the inventory that is listed and in-stock on our website is physically here in our facility – we do not drop ship – if it shows in stock on the website, we have it here and can ship it, in most instances, within 1 business day.
