Description
At Max Marine Electronics, we always find interesting things. These recipe boxes were part of a large warehouse find we made recently. Back in the early days, mariners used a device called a Loran-C which worked similar to GPS but instead of using satellites, Loran-C used a series of land-based towers. A waypoint on a Loran-C is known as a Loran-C TD. The early Loran-C units did not have the ability to remember these TD’s so marine electronics companies would provide a recipe box to customers with these units so they could jot down their TD’s and keep them organized and protected. It would appear that this particular company got a bit over-zealous in ordering these recipe boxes and when the Loran-C units were able to remember these TD’s. there was no longer a need to store them in a recipe box. These have sat in their original boxes, untouched, for decades.
As with any vintage product, there may be a very slight imperfection in the label, but the boxes should be in like-new condition as they were pulled from sealed boxes.
These boxes were intended to fit 3″x5″ index cards.
This listing is for one white and one brown recipe box. We have other larger quantities in separate listings.
