Additional Notes: This windlass was dis-assembled by an installer who wanted to try to repair it. We’re not quite sure of the backstory, but we can say that in its current state:
-When 12vdc is applied to the motor, it spins freely with no funny noises – the motor is OK.
-When the gypsy is turned by hand, it does appear to bind at certain points in the rotation and you cannot turn it further.
-Everything is very greasy and dirty, but it’s all metal so it will clean up.
Other than the motor, we’re not sure what else is salvagable. We can guarantee that the motor functions, beyond that, you’re on your own.
