Additional Notes: This is an M260 core that was removed from a boat being refit with new electronics. It’s in fair condition, BUT it tests good on the TDT1000, which is Airmar’s latest/greatest transducer test set. We have pictured that test report for this transducer.
While this is functional, there are some issues – please read carefully.
1. XID is not working. If using with a GSD22 sounder module or with a newer unit with 6 pin to 8 pin wire block adapter, you can manually program the sounder to output 1000w. This is done a variety of different ways on different Garmin units, a good place to start is to google the video “Installing a Garmin GSD 24 without a Transducer ID”. The values you will enter for 50khz are “Frequency – 50, Max Xmit Power – 1000, Impedance – 250” and for 200khz, “Frequency – 200khz, Max Xmit Power – 1000, Impedance – 90”
2. Two corners are cracked, one worse than the other. Neither are broken off, but you will need to make sure you seal these corners to prevent fluid loss
While this transducer has a couple of issues, neither cannot be overcome and most importantly, the piezo-ceramic elements are still A-OK. This would be an excellent replacement option for someone with this transducer that has failed that wants to get back in the game at a fraction of the cost of new.
