This listing is for a Garmin GXM52 antenna. We acquired this item from a boat being refit with a different brand of electronics. We tested and updated the software on this XM antenna.
This listing includes:
- (1) Garmin GXM52 Sirius Weather and Audio antenna
- (1) Max Marine Electronics Garmin GXM interconnect cable
- (1) Flush mount base
- (1) Surface mount
- (1) Pole mount
The Garmin 010-11297-00 interconnect cable has been discontinued and is impossible to find. We have created a replacement cable, that in many ways, is better than the original:
- Our cable uses a threaded 8 pin connector with permanently attached collar for a secure fit.
- Our pins are gold plated and “barrel type” rather than the 2-blade type on the original which is more subject to wearing out causing poor connectivity
- We have repurposed some new old stock yacht-grade double insulated RCA cables so sound quality should be better with these premium cables.
- This cable bypasses the “2 cable system” Garmin uses, the 010-11298-00 audio cable is integrated into our assembly.
Most importantly, this is the only option we know of on the market to use the GXM51 and 52 XM weather receivers, which are still widely used today. If you do not need audio connectivity, simply wrap the RCA connectors in electrical tape or heat shrink and set aside.
Each cable has been individually tested and certified by a Max Marine Electronics technician.
Important Installation Notes:
- EACH CABLE IS 2 METERS IN LENGTH. Length on NMEA portion can be extended by adding a drop cable of desired length, length on audio portion can be extended with RCA cable extender.
- The connector portion on this cable is of a longer length than the original. Allow for about 4″ under the connector on the antenna for the connector and strain relief – recommended for pole mounting only as with a flush mounted antenna, you will have 4″ under the 8-pin connector on the antenna of straight connector/cable before you can bend it 90 degrees.
- This cable assembly is thicker than the original. It will be difficult to fit in the portion of the pole mount that allows the cable to pass through the OUTSIDE of the threads, it is suggested that you use a straight pole mount, like a Shakespeare 4365 for proper fitment.
